Project challenges
Coordinating the delivery of trees to be lifted in place with cranes. We worked alongside subcontractors to align schedules and tasks to avoid any delays. Due to the time of the year on this project, i.e. Summertime, we had to keep the mature trees watered to prevent dehydration and ensure their establishment.
Pedestrian traffic in a tight space presented a challenge that required careful planning to ensure safety and minimise disruption to both pedestrians and construction activities. We had to sort our shrubs while being mindful of pedestrian traffic along with good housekeeping and good safety behaviours.

Managing Complex Logistics
This project was set in the heart of Myrtle Square, a busy hub in Dún Laoghaire surrounded by thousands of daily pedestrians, local business deliveries including major outlets like Tesco, a busy street road and the project was adjacent to a live hospital. The project coordination team implemented strategic planning between Cumnor Construction and Avondale Landscapes to manage these challenges effectively. This included scheduling work during off-peak hours, maintaining clear and safe pedestrian pathways, and ongoing communication with local businesses and municipal authorities to minimize disruption.
Detailed Landscaping and Plant Installation
As the project progressed, further detailed landscaping was carried out. This involved the continuation of topsoiling to the designated finish levels and the installation of additional semi-mature trees and shrubs from selected nurseries. Garden World supplied specific Pinus Sylvestris that were chosen for their robustness and suitability to the local climate, while Annaveigh Nurseries provided a variety of other trees, shrubs and bulbs that were used to fill out the landscape design. The installation process was carefully coordinated to accommodate the varying light conditions and other stresses associated to urban planting.
