Commercial Landscape Maintenance
SAP Landscapes have been maintaining Carrickmines Park for nearly 15 years. During this time the Park has continued to develop, and we have been engaged in additional landscaping including most recently the link road between the Park and the Ballyogan Road.
A high standard of maintenance is expected and the large areas of evergreen hedging along the edges of roads and footpaths require regular pruning to keep paths/roads clear and also for presentation of the grounds. The more recent additions to the landscaping on the Ballyogan Link Rd contain a significant amount of herbaceous and perennial planting which is a contrast to the more formal hedging within the retail car parks and access routes.
The Park is exceptionally busy and work has to be carried both within and outside of opening hours in order to access all areas. A close working relationship with the client helps to facilitate this approach. You will see from the video, where new planting has been installed this often accompanied by a simple timber fence to prevent pedestrian damage and formation of desire lines. In addition, the site is particular exposed on the edge of the Dublin Mountains and over the years any replanting has been carefully selected to suit the location and also the potential impacts of the winter gritting which is carried out during cold weather.
Judges’ Comments:
“Consistent care in a retail setting with a polished appearance exhibiting signs of sustained vitality.”
“In spite of this being a very busy retail park, the quality of the landscape maintenance is carried out to a very high standard. This is no easy achievement given the close proximity of so much of the planting to car parking areas. There is a sharpness to hedge cutting that really stands out.”
